Smart Cities Orlando

Smart Cites began as a U.S.DOT initiative to create a fully integrated, first-of-its-kind city that uses data, technology and creativity to shape how people and goods move in the future. David will talk about Orlando's Smart Cites initiatives and involvement and their recent engagement at September's Smart Cities national conference in Washington, D.C. The conference drew over 1400 attendees from 86 cites and 33 states.

David Dunn is the Fleet and Facilities Division Manager for the City of Orlando, Florida. David joined the city in 2006 after 23 years with the Space Shuttle program. He has been instrumental in moving the City of Orlando forward on its path toward sustainability through the growth in the deployment of city owned EVs and charging stations. The city began its deployment with 3 EVs and 8 charging stations; Orlando is in the process of increasing its fleet of EVs to 6 Nissan LEAF's, 1 Ford Focus, 75 Low Speed Electric Vehicles and 150 charging stations. Orlando has committed to 25 Via Motors hybrid-electric pickups and 100 new WorkHorse E-GEN pickups that will enter production in 2018.
